The ziggurat is huge; some 220 feet from ground level to the top of the dome, 310 feet across the front, and 433 feet deep (counting the main stairs). The buildings around it have not been explored much yet. They may have been administrative centers when the ziggurat was in use. Ba'al does not seem to use it as a major basis for worship, although the SG team has witnessed ceremonies taking place in the uppermost room. The ziggurat and outbuildings are all empty. A cleaning crew does come in from the town to keep the plaza and buildings clean.

The path leading off from the rear of the plaza leads to the town of Great Uruk and the river Euphrates.
