Most people think of themselves in terms of their jobs. "I'm emperor of the galaxy." "I'm a space marine." Your characters probably do too. This is the list of science fiction/future jobs. You might want to try the fantasy/medieval and contemporary job lists as well. (Most contemporary jobs work well in futuristic settings--although perhaps with a twist.)
