Introduction
Dragon Friend Tourney Shire of Cwm Maethlon Newsletters
|
A new Dragon Friend was chosen on August 9th. Seven fighters showed up with who-knows-how-many weapons to kill with. Rounds were fought with sword and heater, sword and round, florentine, great weapons, spear and mace. The best fight was one of the byes, fought by Sir Robert against Sir Robert with great weapons (they even were so chivalrous that they shared the same weapon). Although the marshalls didn't see the killing blow and the body was hard to distinguish, the round was given to Sir Robert! But they didn't say which one.
The winner of the tourney was Kveldulf with five kills and no chance to win the best death prize. Grenville won that one with Total honors. An etched dragon glass was presented to Kveldulf and another to his Lady. Grenville received an interesting Death Certificate.
After the tourney court was held during which the award for the Riddle Quest was given to Erlon the Farfaring. We even had a couple of tie breaker riddles ready, but had no need for them because Erlon was the only one who got all the riddles right. They were rather hard. Due to her pilgrimage to Vernal, Baroness Ferelith MacDonald presented her coronet to Baron Sir Robert. As a pious deed of penance (we still can't imagine what our beloved Baroness would ever need to repent for) she will be dedicating her time during her pilgrimage to being a sister of the Order of St. John. She will be instructing the postulates of the convent in modesty and proper manners. She has chosen the religious name of Sister Erotica. During the court, two of the sisters of the House came forward and garbed her in a nun's habit, and she left with them.
(The two nuns, by the way, looked an awful lot like Lady Jerilyn and Lady Rhonwen.) Sir Robert, after a fond farewell, presented the coronet of Baroness to Mistress Leah de Spencer.
Later that evening the Pouch of Gold contest was won by Lady Shanta, who ended up with over half of the coins of the day. An honorable mention must certainly go to Amanda de Spencer, who had to leave early but had already collected 77 coins before court at 5:00. The Dragon Tale Bardic prize went to Lord Thorgierr for a rousing tale of blood and gold and of course a dragon. Meistres Rhonwen welcomes others who were there in the early days adding their reminiscences--after over 25 years, her memory is a bit faulty, and much information has disappeared in the fog. E-mail her at [email protected]. | ||||||||||||||||||
