Second Lagoon Demo Shire Champion and Stolen Souls Shire of Cwm Maethlon Newsletters

"Hey, Ethel, did you see that crazy dude in tights riding the Wild Mouse?"
Yes, folks, we did it again! August 26 saw Am Mor Salann Fasach descend on Lagoon for a second fun-filled day and demo. Most of us arrived at about noon ready to make a day of it. Diapers were passed out to the ladies as they arrived for the diaper embroidery contest held in conjunction with the Lady Thamzine baby shower. (Is any of that in period?) Well, with a couple of hours to kill most of us took off for the rides, and if freaking the mundanes is the real SCA pastime, we past time in great style. At 3:00 the first demo was held with our usual style and grace. We wowed them with our death-defying fighting ("Martha, don't worry he said the swords are rattan, that's like rubber isn't it?"), our graceful dancing ("No, Grace, your other left"), and even some fencing ("Fred, are those made out of foil?") Our special friend and guest from far-off al-Barran, Marcus Arabis, made the demo more fun just by lending his beautiful blue wings. . . . Thanks, Marcus. It's always a pleasure to fight and enjoy the company of such a fine gentleman. Following the demo, Lady Thamzine was presented with a lavish array of beautiful gifts which were so graciously given her by the shirefolk (as Autocrat for that little shower . . . thanks). Oh well . . . back to the rides, wimples flying we continued to watch mundanes bite the dust. Our 6:00 demo was accented by the commissioning of Squire Cormack na Gunn as Captain of the Salann Shire Guard. Milord Hiltz was also added to the guard as its newest member (Ladies you can sleep easy tonight . . . the guard is at watch). The diaper contest was won by Arwen. A salt cellar was awarded her for her fine work (some of those sayings will keep Lady Tam in stitches. . . .). The majority of us then trooped back to the fairway for more rides. We rode and rode and rode until the park turned off their lights and sent us home tired but happy and hoping desperately that they will invite us back next summer.
